Facebook or Twitter – Which Social Media Platform Is Better?
Facebook and Twitter are the two most nestled social media platforms. According to an estimate, the number of profiles on these two websites surpasses the population of China, 1.35 billions. Online marketers see this data as a positive ray of hope. With such massive and active crowd, these sites stand as a great market place that has broaden the sky and positively transformed the (business) story of many global businesses, brands, and personalities.
“Many political leaders of the yesteryear are now leading their respective nations, because of the online revolution called social media.”
“Various pop singers, including Justin Bieber, attained and gained their colossal fan base due to social media.”
If the pieces of data are compared, we would find that Twitter contributed more in the success of these noted personalities. Facebook has its boundaries, or we may call it restrictions, because of which, it loses the battle against Twitter, even after being the most inhabited online destination. Here is why Twitter pulls the attention of web users, and is the most active social media platform –
User-friendliness – Twitter is incredibly easy to use and understand. From creating a profile to following your interests, everything takes a few seconds’ time. You do not have to send a request and wait for one’s acceptance or approval. Even the method of communication on Twitter is more interesting than that of Facebook. Furthermore, the entire range of Twitter Apps is very much user-friendly.
Visibility or Reach- It is a great tool for brands and businesses to multiply their visibility and fan following, without fearing any ban. Visibility offers success. Twitter spreads your microblogs without any boundary or restrictions. Your followers will see your words directly in their timeline, while non-followers have access to your statements through search options. Your tweets make a reach to the global audience. You can track the reach of your updates on Twitter Analytics.
Freedom of Speech – Twitter respects and conveys the right to Freedom of Speech, while Facebook can impose ban on almost anything. Even connecting with too many people might restrict your profile from further activities; or liking too many pages or posts would disable the ‘Like’ feature from your profile. Even more, posting promotional links can lead to a permanent ban for your email ID or link on Facebook. Thereby, companies and brands prefer Twitter to Facebook.
While collecting facts and data for this post, I stumbled upon an online article, by Curt Tagtmeier, a reference librarian in Illinois, in which, he mentions “Facebook would be a wedding reception filled with family and friends……….Twitter has been likened to a giant party where you know no one but wish to make many friends.” Many a times, it is said that Facebook is for fun, and Twitter is for intellects.
